A Scarf and a Hat That Doesn't Look Like a Nipple!

So for Christmas I finished two knitting projects. By Christmas, however, I mean I just finished the hat today and I finished the scarf a few days ago. I am an amazing and loving friend, I promise. However, I would like to provide images of my two knitted projects and information about each.

The first project I finished was a scarf I knit for my friend Aubrey. It was supposed to be her Christmas present last year but I failed to finish it on time. This year, I again failed to finish it but by the time we got back up to school, and were reunited with each other, I finished it. When it was completed it was an extremely long scarf. I am about 5'4 and it went above and beyond my height.

Don't mind the clutter on my floor and bed in the next shot, but if you look you can see that when it is folded over it covers the width of my bed.

And in the next shot you can see that I added little frillies to the end of it because I had more than enough yarn left over to do so. I took about four pieces of yarn, each roughly the same length, and laced them through bits of the end. I did this ten times on each side and made it so my friend could make them shorter or longer as needed.

As for the hat, I did this in just a few days following this pattern up to the point where it tells you to change needles. I kept on using my circular needles, in a size I am currently unaware of, and following the pattern to the end.

This hat looks better than any other hat I have made before. It is a little on the short side but I think it will be just fine for keeping my friend Anna's head warm.

I plan on knitting more hats following this pattern but one thing I must note is that they used a thicker yarn than I did and for men it says to knit 60 stitches for the size of their head and I actually did 72 stitches for my twenty year old friend.

Finished the Third Try

And I still failed. The size is way way way way way better but...
there are gaps in my knitting...

and the hat has a nipple...
At this point in the knitting I'm a bit frustrated by the fact that I cannot get this hat to look the way I want it too. When wearing the hat you can hid the fact that it has a weird and pointy top but it's a little more difficult to hide the gaps in the knitting. The gaps, however, are potentially from when I had friends over and my bag of knitting got knocked over. I could have dropped some stitches at one spot in particular but as for the others I have no clue... Oh well...

FINALLY FINISHED THE HAT

I took a bit of a knitting hiatus the second semester but it's just before fall semester starts of my junior year of college and since I have time on my hands I AM KNITTING. I finished the purple hat that I somehow managed to flip and start knitting a different way. Guess what? IT IS STILL TOO FREAKING BIG.

It looks fine sitting on my head right there. It loos like it fits relatively decently. NOPE.

TOO BIG.

The scarf, the teal one, is still in progress and I have a crapload more of yarn to use. One day I will finish it. One day.

What The Heck?

So I finished off that terrible hat and decided to retry and make it. It looks great so far! Except something is confusing me and I'm not sure how I did it but I goofed it up a little bit...

At some point I managed to mess up and start knitting the other way??? Like, the bottom part is the way the top part looks on the inside and vice versa. I managed to do SOMETHING wrong but  it looks kind of cool. I can guarantee that I won't be able to do it again unless I were to mess up. This is the progress I've made on this, too, which is quite a bit for the short time I've been working on it!

Finished Hat

Although it would be more useful as a doily or something like that. It looks horrid. Here are some pictures...

So the first picture makes the hat look not too bad, but then in the second it is revealed that it is TOO FREAKING BIG GOD DIGGITY DANGIT WHAT DID I DO WRONG.

OH WELL, still sending it to her. She gets the first, and the shittiest, hat I have made.

This last pictures is almost a helmet like pictures. Like, what the heck.

Oops

It seems that not only did I forget to knit and update this blog, but that the pictures have gone missing showing you what I had been knitting and what I had already completed. WELP. RUDE.

Let me just show pictures of what I've posted about, if I have them still.

Joyce's Scarf From Last Winter

Umm... Megan's Scarf is a little harder to find but here's a facebook photo of hers.

It's hard to tell but her scarf has tassel bits on the ends of it.
And I sadly do not have a picture of the scarf I started last winter but never got to finish. There was an incident when I moved into my new dorm this year and I ended up having to throw out all my yarn and all the projects I was working on. Which sucked. I do have some new stuff, however, and some progress to show you for other things.

This first one is the current thing I am working on as Megan's gift (yes I realize Christmas is tomorrow... she'll get over it)
I am currently making her a hat that is WAY TOO FREAKING BIG. LIKE WHAT EVEN DID I DO TO MAKE IT THIS BIG. It's okay, it was made with love.

While working on that project I am also making a scarf for my friend Aubrey. It's a super pretty color and it will be ten times easier to finish that the hat *falls off cliff*

The color I am using is seriously so pretty and I am half tempted to keep the scarf for myself. But I won't... because this is also a Christmas present... YAY FOR LATENESS.

Works in Progress Update 1

Okay! This first piece is my first crochet scarf I've ever worked on. I got the yarn and the needle from my friend Laura and from there she taught me how to crochet. I'm not sure if this piece is for someone else or for me, but due to its quality it may be for me.

The next piece is a gray scarf that I'm making for my friend Aubrey. It is my first time experimenting with knit and purl stitches. For each row I knit two and purl two until I get to the end and it creates a nice ribbed like pattern.

I am thoroughly enjoying the way this scarf is turning out and am excited for its final product.

Maybe an update or a finished piece soon.
